Poetry- All Saint's Day

All Saint's Day (Transcribed from original)

O Saints of God! What joy you feel

When before God's throne you kneel

Pleading for us immersed in Strife

That we may gain immortal life

II

Sweet lilies white and roses fair-

Emblems of your dignity there-

You loving join in this one prayer

That we may seek our souls' welfare.

III

Those who on earth to us were dear

And now beholding God's face clear

Their suppliant voices raise to implore

For us the grace to sin no more.

IV.

Your mortal life in grace you passed-

To laws Divine you e'er held fast-

Your hearts and minds to God were raised

That He be glorified and praised.

V.

The gay world's charms my path bestrew

The same as they had tempted you:

But you the victor's crown have gained

Whilst I defeats untold sustained.

I this morning your lives reviewed

Which filled my soul with strength renewed

To trample on the demon's wiles

And win by this your gracious smiles.
